If you happen to hate Valentine’s Day, that is fully understandable, but instead of punching pillows all day or throwing pictures and various other memento’s of your ex into a fireplace, why not enjoy a cocktail or two? While there are plenty of cocktails dedicated to Valentine’s Day there’s also plenty of drink recipes that are a little more anti-Valentine’s Day friendly. Take for instance EFFEN Vodka’s “EFFEN Bitter Truth,” that name alone just screams “Valentine’s Day is for chumps.” And if you’re hoping to make the holiday a little more relaxing there’s also Van Gogh Vodka’s “Dutch Tea” which is a decadent combination of Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate Vodka, tea, heavy cream, and sugar.
Personally, I think that if you’re without a boo on V-Day you should celebrate the holiday with friends and EFFEN Vodka’s “Toast Of The Town” is ideal for that kind of occasion. If those cocktails haven’t quite tickled your fancy then I’ve also included drink recipes from Pinnacle Vodka, Jim Beam, and Cruzan Rum.
Dutch Tea – Created By James Labe (Pictured Above)
INGREDIENTS
4 oz. Prepared Numi Chocolate Pu-erh Tea
2 oz. Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate Vodka
1 oz. Heavy Cream
Sugar
DIRECTIONS
Steep one Numi Chocolate Pu-erh tea bag at normal strength with freshly boiled water for three minutes, then remove bag. Add Vodka and stir. Whip cream with a little sugar and float on top. Dust with Powdered Cocoa to garnish.
Cruzan Dead Man’s Mai Tai
INGREDIENTS
1 part Cruzan® Aged Light Rum
1/2 part Cruzan® Mango Rum
1/2 part DeKuyper® Triple Sec
1 1/2 parts Fresh Sour
1/4 part Orgeat Syrup
Dash of Angostura Orange Bitters
Float of Cruzan® Black Strap Rum
Squeeze of Lime
Cherry
DIRECTIONS
Combine the Cruzan Aged Light, Cruzan Mango, triple sec, fresh sour, orgeat syrup and bitters in a cocktail shaker. Top with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into glass over ice. Top with a squeeze of lime and a float of Cruzan Black Strap.
EFFEN Bitter Truth – Created By David Nepove
INGREDIENTS
1½ parts EFFEN® Vodka
2 dashes Jerry Thomas’ The Bitter Truth™ Bitters (Or similar bitters such as Angostura® Bitters)
1 part Simple Syrup
1 part Lemon Juice
1½ parts Tonic Water
DIRECTIONS
Add all ingredients, except tonic, to a cocktail shaker over ice and shake. Strain and pour into a cocktail glass with with ice. Top with tonic water and garnish with a lemon wheel in the glass.
EFFEN Toast Of The Town
INGREDIENTS
1 part EFFEN® Black Cherry Vodka
1/2 part Raspberry Liqueur
Champagne
DIRECTIONS
In a mixing glass, combine all ingredients except champagne. Strain into a fluted glass and top with champagne.
Love Potion
INGREDIENTS
2 parts Pinnacle® Cherry Whipped® Vodka
1 part DeKuyper® Triple Sec
1 part Pineapple Juice
DIRECTIONS
2 part(s) Pinnacle® Cherry Whipped® Vodka
1 part(s) DeKuyper® Triple Sec
1 part(s) Pineapple Juice
Amour Fizz – Created By Bobby “G” Gleason
INGREDIENTS
1 part Red Stag by Jim Beam® Honey Tea
1 part Fresh Lemon Sour
1 Fresh Apricot
2 parts Prosecco
Splash of simply syrup
DIRECTIONS
In a mixing glass muddle the Apricot with a splash of simple syrup. Add all remaining ingredients and gently roll back and forth into a mixing tin with ice, double strain into a chilled champagne flute.
